The children of visiting players aren’t allowed in the White Sox family daycare. Non story.12 points
-
I knew they were losing this one after that bases loaded nobody out6 points

Does the following sum up the White Sox season well? White Sox bases loaded nobody out....their 3, 4 & 5 hitters strike out. Next batter in the ballgame is Nick Madrigal who hits a home run.5 points
-
Even better, the guy that complains that there were no rules now complains that there are rules and he has to follow them?! ?5 points

I mean this had to have gone about in one of three ways: Scenario 1: Middleton: "Hey guys, can I bring my kids to the team daycare while visiting as a Yankee?" Sox: "Sorry Keynan, the daycare is for Sox players only." Middleton: "Ah, my apologies." Scenario 2: Middleton drops kids off at daycare without checking Daycare attendant: "Excuse us Keynan, we can only watch after kids of Sox players." Scenario 3: @Eminor3rd calls Keynan Middleton: "Drop off your kids at daycare before the game." Middleton: "Why wouldn't I just leave them with my wife or mom?" Eminor3rd stares at Caulfield's profile picture on Soxtalk: "Chaos."5 points

Good reason for keeping Katz. Mental weakness is the culture.4 points
-
Why the f*** would he feel entitled to day care from a team he no longer plays for? GTFO.4 points
-
I get it, and maybe they are flexible, but I would imagine there is quite a bit of liability to watching a surprise group of kids.4 points
-
Because there’s no emotion after being part of a team all year. Things are purely black and white. Yawn. This organization lacks class and deserves zero benefit of the doubt on anything. Period end of story.4 points

What is the proper amount of time before forcefully uprooting kids from a day care they have become comfortable with over the course of a number of months...removing them from favorite teachers, toys and friends? They would have treated theoretical Giolito kids the exact same way? It all just appears vindictive and petty...4 points

Throwing a 1-2 fastball to Morel should get you kicked out of baseball. Also, please retire Yoan.3 points

Just tied Cardinals for first at 21 blown saves. 21 bs / 38 opportunities=45% success rate 2. Chicago White Sox - 20 The White Sox are right behind the category leaders with just one less blown save. The franchise had thirty-seven instances where a pitcher could save the game but could earn it on only seventeen instances. Chicago White Sox player Luis Robert during the 2023 All-Star week( Source : instagram ) Their inability to maintain the lead has been one of the main reasons they are fourth in the Central division of the American League with a record of 38-54. They have conceded the third most home runs in the league and have an ERA of 4.53. Joe Kelly leads the team with six blown saves, the second most in the entire MLB. The relief pitcher is followed by his teammates Reynaldo Lopez and Kendall Graveman, who have five and three, respectively.3 points

Santos fits right in with the other bullpen buffoons. ? 16th time this season...16, the Sox took a lead into the 7th inning or later and lost the game. 16 7th time they lost the lead in the 9th inning. Only in the world of the White Sox.3 points

Burger 3-4 today 8/16 with 2 RBIs. Rick Hahn strikes out again. Madrigal homers against the Sox tonight.3 points

Santos goes again today after a 5 out save yesterday. How many dumbass decisions is Grifol gonna make this season?3 points

You want to know how low it's gotten for the Sox? I was genuinely happy for Morel and the Cubs there.3 points

I get the hate for Clevinger but if he pitches like this he needs to be on next years team.3 points

Because JR is a pompous prick that thinks he’s better than everyone.3 points

Well. I mean you’re only hearing one side of a story here. And really not much of that side. Also, if they don’t live in Chicago, I’m not sure that not having access to the daycare while they’re in town playing would constitute “uprooting” a kid from their favorite teachers and friends. Idk, farbeit for me to give this FO the benefit of the doubt, but if this is a thing where a former player would normally get a favor/exception/warmer welcome when back in town — the dude decided to burn a bridge for what seems like no real gain, I feel like you gotta assume you aren’t gonna get favors granted after that. And he’s making like $800k this year, so it’s not like they can’t handle childcare. But the real question is: why did you specifically want mine/elrockin’s opinions here lol. Just seems random3 points

The most important game left on the schedule. The only important game left on the schedule. Will the Sox show up and win? They should be motivated like it's the seventh game of the World Series because this group will never get close.3 points
-
But again, it's for during games. Like aside from this weird exact situation where the Yankees happen to be visiting, why would someone go drop their kids off at Sox stadium at 6pm at night (assuming the Sox are even at home)? That doesn't make any sense.3 points
-
I mean, we're talking about an industry that paid minor leaguers well below minimum wage so would it be that surprising?3 points
-
You know what is classy? Publicly bad-mouthing a past employer, attempting to access employee only benefits, then publicly complaining some more.3 points
-
So they are leaving the kids in Chicago while he's playing in New York? That doesn't make sense. So he's now a visiting player and wants to have the same benefits as Sox players? I bet the Yankees allowed him to immediately use their day care. It's an employee benefit. He's not an employee. If they can show examples of other visiting players being allowed to, then I'll join the chorus of boos. But for following the established rules? I'm not going to criticize my team. The guy rips the organization on the way out the door then two weeks later "hey I know the rules but could you do me a favor and break them for me?"3 points
-
And he looked like he knew it. He threw that slider to end Seiya’s at bat and just had that “you can’t touch me” look on his face3 points

Almost forgot Stone's usual blather about the run they scored in the 9th off Alzolay being due to using a closer in a non-save situation because the adrenalin doesn't kick in in a one run game with the playoffs on the line. Say this drivel before it happens, Steve, instead of waiting until after and you might have a little more believability. You're getting tiresome.2 points

Good lord are we really sitting around discussing the policies around the White Sox daycare? Anyone have the scoop on how often they disenfect the toys or if they have organic low sugar juice box options? Good lord Hahn and company need to be fired yesterday. I want to talk about exciting White Sox baseball again before I'm in a wheelchair at a retirement home.2 points

I get the point. My thing is this guy was just traded. I have no idea how old his kids are, but if they are 3 or 4 they may be friends with other players kids in the daycare. For some reason, when Jim Thome left and came back the next season with the Twins, I have a hard time believing if his kids were 3 or 4 or 5 at the time and he tried to drop them off, they would say no. Technically, maybe it's not allowed, but unless there is some reason like insurance or whatever, it's just something they should have let slide IMO. Too many weird coincidences with Middleton right after popping off. Ozzie even agrees with me. Middleton coming out with this stuff did the White Sox a favor. They can deny it all they want. Make all the excuses, but they need to learn. Lynn corroborated what he said. Others who have left have said some things. A good organization, or an organization that wants to be good , learns from it. The ones mired in mediocrity at best, get all defensive, and work on excuses for when the next guy says something.2 points
-
And I do think even if JR or Hahn didn't care, it's likely that an employee at the "runs daycare" level may just be enforcing a rule of "can only accept kids on a list". There's just a lot of scenarios here, and an unlikely one to me is the executives making sure these level of employees (scoreboard keeper, daycare provider) are enforcing their grievances.2 points

My job has an on-site child care which is available to me with work discounts and such. If I got fired or moved to another employer I would not enjoy those benefits anymore. this story is weird and incomplete2 points

If this happened as “reported” it’s shitty, yes. But look at where it’s posted. Take sensationalized “stories” like these with a grain of salt. There might be a kernel of truth here, but there is a whole lot of conjecture, even from the author, and shouldn’t be taken as corroborated sourced info. This is TMZ turf, and TMZ has more credibility sadly.2 points

Good bullpens are organic. They come together naturally from guys that don't do well starting, guys with good stuff that doesn't extrapolate, young guys finding their stride, and veterans looking for a fresh atmosphere. When you try to force it with big money I feel like it always backfires. Also closer by committee NEVER works and that's what Pedro decided on back in spring training so....2 points

Absolutely embarrassing home run call. Just play Hawk recordings instead of whatever that was.2 points

It’s almost as if you shouldn’t spend a bajillion dollars on a bullpen2 points
