  1. This is PR. It is coming from Bob who gets his orders from Jerry himself. Its going to calm the fanbase, another 'carrot on the stick' approach by Jerry. Get everyone thinking change is coming when it most certainly is not.

  3. If they need to conduct interviews to figure this out they are worse off than we thought.

  4. Malarkey. Everything wrong with the Sox is on JR. Treat the drafting and development of young players with the money and scouting and coaches it has deserved forever. That is all on JR.

  5. If this is genuine… I applaud that JR is doing something to fix the problem but why is he leading this process? It would be better if he had hired an independent party to conduct this process. People will be afraid to be candid when they’re talking JR because he’s the owner. If JR was smart, he would formed an independent committee (like the Bears did) to review the entire org and the performance of the FO.

  6. If there is any serious evaluation and interview process, it should be done by someone outside the organization. Someone who can look at things with an objective eye. In addition, this should have been done a long, long time ago, like at the end of 2011.

  7. We have a winner. Nothing will change until Jerry is dead. This is a big ol fugazi attempt to give the illusion that change is coming.

  8. Charlie Blackmon is so gonna be a White Sox next year.

  9. While this is way too late - I still think of this as a good thing. Kind of like the stuff that came out with the Bulls right before they changed the whole front office setup etc. Not saying the Bulls hires have worked out - but this has a similar feel of what happened prior to major changes.

  10. The ones responsible for firing people are the ones who deserve to be fired. This is such a stupid premise.

  11. The most important thing is to get Hahn/Haber out of the building. Literally everything will change when those idiots are gone.

  12. Normally this would make me excited, but what are the chances this is done correctly? What are the chances they bring in someone outside of their insular clown cabal? Real change needs to start at the absolute top if they want to even begin to approach a semblance of a modern day baseball organization.

  15. On one hand, some fans are bitching about a win. On the other hand, it was nice to see a win and some hits by Sosa, Moncada and Colas.

  16. Here’s my interview: “Your major league team is 26 games under, your AAA team is 33 games under, and your AA team is 31 games under. That’s 90 total games under. What do you think?”

  17. It's like playing Lenyn Sosa to see what you might have as a major leaguer is a good idea.

  20. Bobs column next week will probably say JR has finished his interviews and the consensus is the Sox struggles were the fault of Middleton, Lynn, Kelly, and Graveman, and luckily they were able to get rid of all of them, and pick up some can’t miss prospects in the meantime.

  21. Wait, was this rebuild on Old Entish Time? Maybe we have been overly harsh to consider results so soon??

  23. If JR has been doing these interviews, who exactly has he been speaking with associated with the team the last 2 seasons? Shouldn’t he have asked most people what exactly is going on here 1000 times by now? If he can’t see he needs a new manager, new coaches, a new GM, and new developmental people, it is beyond hope. Sell the team JR. Spend the rest of your years counting your money, and give the rest of us hope we may actually cheer for a good team more than once or twice a decade.

  25. I would only take this seriously if they brought in a proper baseball exec (like an Epstein) and that new exec would be doing the interviewing. This could be a genuine effort, but I’m also still waiting for Elisha Cuthbert to return my email from 15 years ago to ask her out.

  27. I know there are jokes, and I even chuckled at a couple of them. But it's pretty sad you can't pump gas at 3 in the afternoon in a heavily populated area, and be safe. It's time something is done.

  28. Knowing the Sox, they'll probably use it to uproot anyone who is honest enough to question the ruling cabal...in Keynan Middleton whistleblower fashion.

  35. The fact that they have to conduct interviews to see if changes are needed is telling. They obviously can’t determine that by the results.

  37. Internal Interviews Kenny "JR, I could of done a better job than this Rick guy. There are plenty of former Indians or players I coveted in the 2010's that are still bouncing around. We can reload with that and make a run. And if we need a player we have this new farm system to trade away from. I can get some major leaguers for these guys. Put me back in charge" TLR "Jerry, huh. Meh, You need to get more ex-cardinals on the payroll. If we picked up a certain ex-cardinal manager instead of this KC guy we win the division. My analytics guy and vet says we can do better with the players we have. He did the computations on his calculator" Getz "Lets get more Royals players. We can do this on a cheaper payroll and hopefully we can get it right for once"

  39. If the Sox are going to blow chunks next year as well, I'd prefer they miss out on "winning" the '24 lottery so they have a shot at winning it in '25 for Ethan Holliday.

  40. With a zinger thrown in about former White Sox Union rep Lucas Giolito. USA Today is a fitting place for Bob to "work", then again so is the White Sox for all of Jerry's cronies, and Hahn's Michigan cronies. Hope Brooks Boyer sells 0 season tickets beyond corporate sponsors forced to buy them. Insert flaccid arrow and kickbacks to Jerry.

  43. Hahn actually has done alright on trades and been about average hitting on prospects. But hes been absolutely f'n god awful in free agency. Wasted hundreds of millions of dollars on barely replacement level players. FA should really should be the easiest part the job but time and time he wastes money on guys which absolutely kills our ability to field a competitive team. The worst part is Beni had a .352 BABIP last year. This is around what his normalized OPS should have been last year. Anyone with half a brain could have seen this coming. Infact his xWOBP (his expected weighted OBA) was .334 according to fangraphs his actual OBP so far this year is you guessed it .334. His slugging and ISO numbers are a bit down and he probably a bit better than his power numbers this year but when we signed him we should known what he was. He never was going to be the 122 wRC+ of last year.

  44. Well. I mean you’re only hearing one side of a story here. And really not much of that side. Also, if they don’t live in Chicago, I’m not sure that not having access to the daycare while they’re in town playing would constitute “uprooting” a kid from their favorite teachers and friends. Idk, farbeit for me to give this FO the benefit of the doubt, but if this is a thing where a former player would normally get a favor/exception/warmer welcome when back in town — the dude decided to burn a bridge for what seems like no real gain, I feel like you gotta assume you aren’t gonna get favors granted after that. And he’s making like $800k this year, so it’s not like they can’t handle childcare. But the real question is: why did you specifically want mine/elrockin’s opinions here lol. Just seems random
